Countless events of any kind are organised each year at Rome, particularly concentrated

on summertime, ranging from sport to music and shows, with a considerable audience

participation.

Past two years Rome organized Swimming World Championship and Baseball World

Champions.

The Italian Federation always provides for:

2011 Italian Champions & International race.

The race will be run in the center of the city of Rome along Tiber river with the arrival

line be placed near the historical Milvio bridge of Roman epoch.

Fans and coaches will be able to follow the race from the right bank of the river, where

the green areas are located

The athletes will have 10 km disponibili per I propri allenamenti, durante I giorni

antecedenti le gare.

During the competition and for the warm-up on the racing course, the river will be

available ( 7 kms. perfectly available ).

Paddlers will be able to use a specific area at the Circolo Canottieri Aniene Club,

including the following facilities:

At the arrival:

The racing course will bea long a ring of 5,4 Km long in the river without any significant

problem related to riverstream. Every la pone disembarkment, in agreement with the

ICF rules.

Starting line: A modern starting system will be available to avoid any problem to the

participants.

Rafts will be available to allow a regular simultaneous arrival for all participants.

The disembarkment area will be on a grass field and more than 15 mt. long in order to

guarantee the use of beverages for all paddlers.

The complete raning course will be available only for paddlers during the days of the

competition.

Before the event, the main course will be available for training and warm-up. The O.C.

will be ready to assist those teams which may require special help.

The venue can provide a nice gym, swimming pool, atleti filed, etc ?

The alternative location for the race is located in Settebagni, 10 Km from the official

venue

The venue is downtown of Rome.

We?ll have tribunes for spectator and sponsor village.

Within 100 meters from the arrival zone we have 10 bus stops and many restaurants,

bar, pubs and more.

The communication experts members of the Organising Committee, a long time before

the event, arrange the publication of editorial articles on local newspapers, diffuse

leaflets and posters, predispose road banners in order to create anticipation.

Near the date of the event, the Press Office manager organises, according with the

Majority of Rome, a press conference meant to involve the main nationwide media

Some bus line of the Municipal Transport Company of Rome links the downtown to

venue frequently.

As to catering some restaurants and bar are in function 150 metres far from the venue.

Athletes, technicians, medics, physiotherapists avail themselves of the shuttle service

between hotels and the competition venue.

The athletes area is located at the Circolo Canottieri Aniene, where dressing room and

toilets are available.

Along the river shore there are the apposite boat racks with easy access to embarking

and debarking piers and one gazebo for each.

The catering service is for athletes is located in this area.

Negotiations with some of the most important worldwide producers are ongoing and

will be concluded in due time.

That is in order to get the presence of numerous brands which could offer a service at

excellent conditions and also the repair service

The transfer service for all accredited participants from airports and railway stations to

hotels and from hotels to the competition venue, and vice-versa, is carried out by the

organisation for free.

The period of time separating us from the date of the event allows to provide only

average indicative data, there are no problems as to the availability of sleeping

accommodation.

In Rome we have 2 Intercontinental airports.

The committee will organize a free shuttle from the airport and railways station to the

venue.

For dedicate shuttle the provisional cost is 50 Euro every 6 people from the airport and

20 Euro from the railways station.

We have the underground from the airport (8 Euro each) and from the railways station

(1 Euro each)

The committee will organize free shuttle from any hotel to the venue every 90 minutes

Three free shuttle will organized from any hotel to Piazza del Popolo each day in the

afternoon

The opening ceremony will organized in Ponte Milvio Square near to venue area; the

square can allow many thousand people.

The Mayor of Rome is expected to attend the opening ceremony.

The victory Ceremony will organized in arrival zone after each competition and will

visible from entire Ponte Milvio area.

What program and activity are you hoping to plan to engage the

population and increase the visibility of canoeing and ICF? The choice of location on

the course will enhance the canoe event: we are in the center of Rome and some of the

steps will be carried out alongside the most beautiful and historic bridges of the

?Tevere? river.

What will be the spectator audience promotional strategy? To promote the ? sport canoe?

image will be organized some ?promotional event? directly in many Schools of Rome.

Also will be organized entertainment events (music concerts for example) that will allow a

strong involvement and contact with a large audience.

To generate additional revenue the Organising Committee is bound to put in place a

marketing approach, what will be the actions of the OC?

Merchandising strategy

As we operate on downtown of Italian Capital City, we have to face a massif

competition developed in any sector of the human activity; therefore the organization of

excellence events are the essential oxygen to keep at dignified levels.

It is fundamental to give constantly important signals of our presence in order to

progress in the prestige ranking.

The event concept is the one also developed in the previous section 12,3.

In our opinion, the reason for ICF to endorse the Italian Federation candidacy is the

absolute necessity to support it providing the opportunities to be more and more in

evidence in both the national and international sports panorama.

It has to be considered, for example, the role our Country plays in the Mediterranean

basin as to the diffusion of our discipline.

The Italian Federation and the Italian Olympic Committee, of which the federation is a

member, have an agreement, for all that concerns the filming and the broadcasting of

sports events, with RAI Radio Italian Television (the State broadcasting company) from

which other Countries broadcasting companies can get the rights for the diffusion of

the service.

During the event, the official photographer will be able to provide images at once to

those who will request them.

The press room will be settled in the arrival tower building hall or in a contiguous place.

As illustrated in the previous section, RAI will have the sole right for the TV filming

and the other Countries broadcasting companies will have to turn to them to get the

rights for the diffusion of the service.

Filming normally takes place from different fixed positions and from two catamarans

following the competition course, plus a few cameramen troupes for interviews, which

will be hosted in the athletes area.

The TV reports are partially broadcasted live and also by satellite.

Provide us with the level of services that will be available at the Press Centre and the

What are the plans to increase the look and image of the ICF event and canoeing to attract

more media, more sponsors and therefore increasing the visibility? Legare l?evento

The italian antidoping center is located 200 meters from the venue and the organization

will provide for the antidoping analisys according the WADA requirement

The support of the Italian Medical Federation for all needs will be guaranteed.

The organization will provide for antidoping and first aid support.

The organization, in cooperation with Federazione Italiana Medici Sportivi will

organized a servzio sanitario e di fisiterapia con costi convenzionati.

Whitin 5 km from the venue we have 3 major hospital with all medical specialists

The security along the river is guaranteed by the O.C. with a wide number of boats and

rescue facilities, inclufing the firemen department.

Police , Carabinieri and City Police will guarantee a perfect security organization.

The CO will organized some dedicated activities to visit the ancient roman areas,

Churchs and meseums.

A dedicate desk will arranged by the Mucipality

The spouse can use the same facilities organized for ICF members and athletes

The event website, visible through the ICF, the Italian Federation and OC website, will

be connected with the maxi-screen on the tower and will report contemporaneously the

Al the activities are self supported by sponsoring for expenses and public authorities for

any administrative and legal issue.
